About

profile1When David Benjamin became a social worker back in 1991, he had no idea how that experience would ultimately shape his career.  Learning the necessary skills to help people empower themselves to reach self-defined goals has proved valuable throughout his career. After discovering the social work field was not his ideal fit, David transitioned out of the industry to work for a Wall Street-based Investment Firm as a financial advisor.

For almost a decade David worked with clients, helping put in place sound financial plans that allowed them to reach their financial goals. After building up a large clientele, he was promoted into a managerial role where he was responsible for training and development of new hires. In addition, he was heavily responsible for interviewing and hiring new candidates before mentoring them in the field.

In 2001 after the 9/11 attacks, Enron fiasco, and overvalued stock market David’s career path took another turn. Enter the recruiting industry where for the past eight years he has worked hard to grow his network and help clients with their staffing and recruiting needs. Most recently, David has been recruiting sales professionals for clients in a variety of industries.

Last year saw a major change in our workforce and economy creating new opportunities. In addition to recruiting, David quickly became an advocate for the various social networking technologies and studied how they could be implemented into business. Now, clients are consistently being referred to his growing consulting practice where he is helping clients reach their desired goals.

In Q2, 2010 SalesBasix, a Sales and Marketing e-Learning company will launch where David will be part owner and Social Media Director. This product, available for purchase on our soon to be live website is designed for Students, Sales Professionals, Business Owners, Associations, and any other entity that wants Subject Matter Experts content through modules. The four disciplines of Sales, Marketing, PR, and Social Media will cover teachings from those in the trenches, consulting for clients, and producing extraordinary results.

Over the past year, David has been asked to speak to: Associations, University students, Chamber members, and Rotary Clubs. Topics have ranged from Leadership vs. Management to Incorporating social media for those in job transition. He has also been invited to train on the topic of  Branding, Marketing, and effective Digital Communications for many recruiting departments including: Campbell-Ewald, Valassis, Learning Care Group, Gale/Cengage, and The Smart Workforce Solutions Company.

When David is not busy recruiting or consulting, he is spending time with production for Voices of Detroit, a business roundtable podcast series highlighting successful entrepreneurs, business owners, and community leaders in Metro Detroit. Co-founded with Larry Henry, this podcast was created to combat all the negativity that was surrounding Detroit, Michigan.
